Aurora is a city located in St. Louis County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,850.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.2 km2 (3.9 mi2). 9.8 km2 (3.8 mi2) of it is land and 0.4 km2 (0.1 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 3.56% water. It is surrounded by mixed coniferous/deciduous forest and is near man lakes.
Aurora is located on the Mesabi Range of northeastern Minnesota. Formerly this area produced a large quanitity of the nation's iron and taconite ore, but recently they have been depleted or become too expensive to mine. Recently a Blue Cross Blue Shield call center has been built in Aurora, and it is hoped that more jobs will come to the area.
